Special Touches That Made Our Wedding Unique
Each wedding has elements that make it special to the bride and groom. I am so thankful for the special people in my life that made the best day truly unforgettable. The various details created the perfect wedding, but there were three aspects a part of our day that I will forever be grateful for.
Bridesmaid Dresses Designed by My Sister
My sister is a talented designer with an eye for what looks best on each woman. She put her talents to work, sketching and designing each dress for my bridesmaids. She then worked with a factory to have the dresses made. Seeing each girl standing by my side in their one-of-a-kind dress was truly special.
Flowers from Charlie’s Grandma
I didn’t get the chance to meet Grandma Louise but I know the people she raised and they’re incredible. I could not ask for a better family to marry into. I loved the look of peonies and once I mentioned incorporating the flower into my bouquet, Charlie’s dad mentioned his mother used to grow rows of peonies.
Did you know? If you refrigerate peonies before they bloom, they’ll stay dormant until they’re brought out of the refrigerator and placed in water. My mother-in-law became the peony queen, driving hours to check on the peony bushes at the farm and then driving coolers of flowers to my florist. They were absolutely beautiful and it was so special to walk down the aisle with Grandma Louise as a part of our wedding day.
saying “I do” in my home church
Growing up, every Sunday morning was spent in the front pew on the left side of the church. I knew one day, I would marry the person God made for me. I prayed about my future husband for many years. We got engaged in 2020 and the church still had restrictions due to the pandemic as we neared our wedding day. We had to limit the ceremony to family only but walking up the aisle to marry my husband was a moment I’ll never forget. I was so grateful to be able to be in the beautiful church, blessed by God and surrounded by family. I think my dad was excited as well because the first thing I told him as we walked down the aisle was to walk slower.
Our wedding day was filled with countless cherished moments, but the dresses made by my sister, the flowers from Charlie's grandma's farm, and being able to say “I Do” at my home church hold a special place in our hearts. These personalized touches made our wedding truly extraordinary, reminding us of our loved ones as we celebrated creating a life together.
