How To Romanticize Your Summer
Sweet summertime - from taking advantage of the longer days to enjoying the warm weather and soaking up time on patios, thinking of summer activities can be dreamy. We often dream big about summertime and all the amazing things we can do, and then POOF, it’s over in the blink of an eye. During a busy schedule and a career, how does one make sure to soak up every bit of sunshine and summer adventure while it’s here?
Here is a list of ways to romanticize your summer, no matter how big or small your dreams are, so you can make the most of summertime.
Explore your city
Great adventures don’t have to be far away!
Planning a trip can be time-consuming and require resources that one may not have. No matter if you live in a town or a city, in a rural or urban landscape, creating an adventure is possible! trying out a new restaurant or a road trip to a nearby town to visit their ice cream store. Perhaps tour a local museum or visit another library that isn’t in your normal schedule. Be sure to check out local event listings, community websites, and social media groups to find fun and free things to do in your area.
Attend events near you
Summer is a great time to attend yearly festivals and celebrations! No matter where you live, outdoor events are a popular, convenient, and fun way to enjoy summertime!
One of my personal favorites and yearly tradition is attending the iconic Iowa State Fair. This event offers 11 days of food, fun, and competition in the heart of Iowa.
Try following local social media outlets and reading community papers to learn about festivals and celebrations that you aren’t aware of. Strolling through art fairs and farmer’s markets is a great way to enjoy the outdoors while supporting local talents. If you enjoy sports, finding spontaneous tickets for sale is a great way to get to your local ballpark. The key is romanticizing these local experiences, finding joy in the spontaneity, and adding a touch of adventure to your everyday life.
Get Creative
Although, as adults, we don't get to enjoy a summer break like we did in grade school, the summer season still presents a perfect opportunity to reignite our creativity. Whether it’s reading or creating a piece of art, let this season allow you to use your hands and spark your creative side.
Another way to be creative is to develop fun challenges that get you exploring the city. Perhaps you want to do a side-by-side comparison of your favorite ice cream flavors from different shops or host a gathering with friends to celebrate a random holiday, let your creativity lead you to making more adventures.
Final thoughts
Ultimately, summer comes and goes each year, and what we do during this time is up to us! The summer can end with a list of happy memories by romanticizing these warm months.
