NOSH is my favorite place for any quick eats. Grab a sweet treat from their frozen yogurt area or order lunch, the tomato basil soup is the best! The decor is light and airy, making it a happy place to sit and sip a cup of coffee or meet a friend.

La Mie Bakery has the best pastries in Des Moines. Their lunch options are fantastic and although the line gets long as it’s a popular Des Moines place, the service is always very quick and efficient. I highly recommend the danishes!

Smokey Row has multiple locations around Central Iowa and you simply can’t go wrong by visiting the coffee shop. Grab a meal or just a coffee, but be sure to try the Andis Mint Pie! It’s amazing.

Nothing is more Iowan than the Iowa Tap Room. The restaurant was designed to highlight the best of Iowa, including a grain bin in the middle of the bar with 99 beer taps, offering local brews. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is even better.

Great food, great beer, and a fun patio in Downtown Des Moines. Exile Brewing is a hit with all audiences!

Malo in my book is fancy Mexican. I judge restaurants by their salad and the Malo salad is my all-time favorite. It’s a great lunch spot and has a small patio perfect to enjoy the Iowa weather.
